No Drama In Top 4 Elimination - Bye Bye Big Mike

American Idol sucked all the drama and intrigue out of the Top 4 eliminations on Wednesday night when it sent Casey James to safety early in the show, leaving judges' favorites Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze up against Michael Lynche to await their inevitable fates. By the time Ryan Seacrest sent Lee to safety, it was pretty obvious to everyone what Big Mike's goal of making the Top 3 wasn't in the cards, and sure enough, Crystal was declared safe, sending Big Mike packing for once and for all.

Left with the task of trying to keep the audience invested in the program when it was obvious what was going to happen were Daughtry, who debuted their new single September (iTunes | Amazon) and Bon Jovi doing their new song "Superman Tonight" (iTunes | Amazon) with some horrid harmonizing in the first chorus. Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora look amazing for their age, but the vocals haven't aged as well. Fantasia also performed at the top of the show, singing her new song "Bittersweet" (iTunes | Amazon).

And you know what else is bittersweet? Not getting a Simon Cowell WTF reaction to Fantasia's performance. But especially bittersweet was seeing the montage of Idol homecomings with Claudette Yamin, Elliott's mother who passed away last year. R.I.P., Claudette.
