Kris Allen On The Bonnie Hunt Show

Kris Allen paid a visit to the Bonnie Hunt Show for an interview and performance of "Live Like We're Dying". Bonnie and Kris talked about family, marriage, and Adam Lambert's AMA performance (very deftly handled by Kris). Kris will be back on the Bonnie Hunt Show later in December, performing "The Christmas Song".

Allison Iraheta Press Junket Interviews

It's Allison Iraheta's turn to do the satellite TV interviews this week with the Fox affiliates. I'll post some of the interviews as I find them.

Kelly Clarkson, Eric Hutchinson Rock With You

Kelly Clarkson and opening act Eric Hutchinson did a surprise duet at their concert Sunday night in San Jose, singing Michael Jackson's "Rock With You". Their dancing! HA! So adorkable.

New Megan Joy Music

American Idol Season 8 finalist Megan Joy released new music today on MySpace - "Incomplete" and "Feel Love". Megan tweeted that she wrote all of the lyrics. She sounds great in the studio - very Adele-like. I'm sure Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi will be pleased.

You can listen to Megan's new songs on her MySpace page: MeganJoySings.

David Archuleta Orchestral Crush

This tweet from David Archuleta Friday night certainly piqued my attention: "Intermission! Wow! Performing an orchestral arrangement of Crush was so cool!!"

So I made a point of seeking video out of this performance. It seems as if the venue was pretty strict about recording, so the video below is only audio (stealth videotaping credit/thanks goes to YouTube user emilyluvsarchie), but it's pretty cool to hear "Crush" performed in this manner. It's really pretty! Accompanying David is the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra:

Listen To Allison Iraheta's CD

Pixie rocker Allison Iraheta's upcoming CD Just Like You is being streamed on her MySpace page. Or at least half of the tracks are. Maybe they are spreading this out over a few days?

Listen here:

And if you can't wait for them to add the other half of the songs, visit to hear the rest.

I'm loving "Scars" and "Still Breathing"!

Allison's CD comes out on Dec. 1. If you pre-order at iTunes, you get the bonus track "Don't Wanna Be Wrong", which was co-written by Chris Daughtry.

Anoop Sings Christmas Songs At Macy's Tree-Lighting Ceremony

Anoop Desai performed at the Macy's Tree-Lighting Ceremony in San Francisco on Friday, singing "The Christmas Song" and Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You".

Listen to the two songs below (too many heads in the way in the video), from YouTube user coolgirl21:

The Latest From The Krim Show

Jim Cantiello indulged us with more Krim Show moments featuring himself and Kris Allen just being adorably funny. Check out his blog and the video outtakes. Find out what Kris thinks about his mom tweeting Jim, who Jim refuses to have as a third host of the Krim Show, and plenty more below:

Kris Allen Sings, Makes Audience Swoon On Ellen

Kris Allen gave a great performance of "Live Like We're Dying" on yesterday's Ellen and then made the audience swoon when talking about his wife Katy in the post-performance interview.

Kris said, "People were like, 'Why'd you get married so young?', and I was like, 'I just knew, you know?'" When the audience awwww'd at him, he got all embarrassed and covered his face with his hand, saying "I'm not trying to be all cuddly and nice, but if you know, you know. I didn't want to try anything else." (cue more awwwwww's)

Seriously, Kris. How are you even real?

American Idol Season 9 To Begin Jan. 12

American Idol will kick off its ninth season (!!!!) with a two-night premiere on Jan. 12 and 13. A promo ran tonight during So You Think You Can Dance. It featured a male singer singing "Feelin' Good" during his audition. He obviously doesn't know that "Feelin' Good" is the kiss of death on that show.

The singer in question looks like Justin Williams, who was in Kris Allen and Matt Giraud's White Chocolate group during Hollywood Week last year. What do you think?

Adam's Video Is Here For Your Entertainment

Here's Adam Lambert's music video for "For Your Entertainment". It's basically a performance piece set in a club. You can definitely see the rave influences here. There are a few quick cuts that are seizure-inducing, and I'm very grateful that it's this song they're doing these cuts on and not "If I Had You", aka the Pokemon song. Can you just imagine thousands of Glamberts being taken to the hospital with photosensitive epilepsy?! PEW! PEW! PEW!

Video Of The Day - Muppets Bohemian Rhapsody

The Muppets sing Bohemian Rhapsody. This is sure to brighten anyone's day!

Arkansas About To Claim Another Winner

Kris Allen is the American Idol, and his close friend and bandmate Cale Mills, representing Arkansas, is very close to becoming the 2009 Cosmo Bachelor of the Year.

Ahhh Arkansas. What a year for the state. Kris wins American Idol, Cale is about to win the Cosmo Bachelor of the Year. Little Rock is winning the Kradison concert. If we could vote on what the U.S. capital could be, I swear, Little Rock would win.

(And seriously? What are they feeding them in Arkansas to come out with two hot, talented guys like Kris and Cale?)

Kris put his official endorsement on Cale's candidacy at "He doesn't have to take his shirt off to be sexy. The other guy does," Kris said. "And he's got a beard. Which always wins."

You can vote for Cale (and against Matt Smith. Sorry, just saying!) at Cosmo in the Bachelor Wars. Cale is currently in the lead with 59% wins and 41% losses.

Kris Allen Q&As From The Logo Channel

Kris Allen took some questions from tweeters via Logo Channel. Part 1 is at Logo Online. Part 2 is at After Elton.

In part one, Kris talks about his fake hotel name (Bow Chicka Wow Wow. Which makes him Mr. Bow. BWAHAHA), hairy feet, and his bromance with Adam Lambert. In part two, he talks more about his friendship with Adam. When asked if he thought it was gratifying that their friendship made people more open-minded about gays and Christians, he said, "I've heard stuff like that before, like 'So Christians CAN be nice to gays.' I was like 'What?! People should just be nice to people. It doesn't matter who you are." Um, why are you so perfect, Kris Allen?

Kris Allen Back In The Studio

"American Idols Live!" Tour 2009
His album just came out this week, but Kris Allen is still busy making music. In a series of cryptic tweets from him and his people, it was revealed that Kris was in the studio recording last night.

His friend and band member Cale Mills started it off in the early evening by tweeting: Saw mj's "this is it" last night & today we're recording in the studio where "we are the world" was recorded. Who wants to watch thriller?!

Seven hours later, Kris' wife Katy tweeted: In the studio with Kris.... Can't wait for people to hear this

Kris finally joined in an hour after that, around 2:30 am, with this tweet: In the studio. I know I know. The album is done. But I couldn't stay out.

So naturally, wild speculation ran rampant about just what Kris was doing in the studio for nine hours. Here are a few theories that went through my head:
*Recording an acoustic EP
*Recording Christmas music
*Recording a song for a soundtrack
*Recording a song for a charity CD
*Recording Man in the Mirror for a Michael Jackson tribute album (thanks to Cale's tweet)
*Recording version 8.0 of Heartless

The more I think about it, though, the more I think it's gotta be some kind of EP. I don't think that it takes 9 hours to record one song, and that's a heck of a lot of $ to spend on studio time for one song anyway.

So I'm going to put my prediction on the record (because I want to come back and laugh when we get the truth if I'm totally wrong): I think Kris is recording a 4-song acoustic EP that will include Live Like We're Dying, Heartless (perhaps with Gangsta's Paradise mash-up), Let It Rain and the Mat Kearney co-write, Top of the World.

Anyone else have any good guesses? Speculate away in the comments ...

Topanga, Drag Queens Love Kris Allen On The Dish

So there was a little bit more to The Dish segment with Kris Allen than the earlier clip from the Style network indicated. First off, at the top of the show Danielle Fishel announced Kris as a guest by saying, "American Idol hunk Kris Allen stops by to give me some lovin'". You know Kris' inner teenager was dying if he heard to hear that come out of Topanga's mouth.

At the end of the show, some drag queens that were part of an earlier segment (Frieda Lay and Kay Sedia) re-appeared to give Danielle a Kris Allen autographed CD and then proceeded to fight over him.

Matt Giraud Solo Concert

Matt Giraud performed two sold-out solo concerts today in Michigan. The Grand Rapids Press wrote a review of the first 90-minute concert, and it's GLOWING. The writer starts the review by saying, "Matt Giraud had his 'swagger on high' Saturday at his first solo concert, warmly engaging the sold out crowd with his marvelous voice, gorgeous piano playing and outsized charm." And she gave the concert 4 out of 4 stars.

Matt debuted four original songs - "I Miss You Tonight", "Go On and Sing, Boy", "Gimme a Break", and "Breakin’ in a Broken Heart". I love "I Miss You Tonight"! Check it out below, from, which also has videos from his other performances:

And because it can't be said enough, #signMattGiraud.

Allison Iraheta - Acoustic Just Like You

Allison Iraheta sang the title track to her album Just Like You in an acoustic performance for radio station 93.7 WSTW. Check out the video here, from alliholics:

You can pre-order Allison's CD on iTunes to get bonus material, including the song "Don't Wanna Be Wrong", which was co-written by Chris Daughtry. You can listen to a preview of the song at iTunes. I like it! Why do Chris' songs keep getting relegated to bonus tracks? They're good! Is it to sell extra copies? I guess it's working, because I bought the Wal-Mart version of Kris Allen's CD with the Kris-Chris co-write "Send Me All Your Angels", and I think I'm about to pre-order this CD ...

Kris Allen Meets Topanga

Kris Allen, who has never been shy about his Boy Meets World love, will be a guest on Danielle Fishel's show The Dish on the Style Network Saturday night at 10 pm. Danielle Fishel played Topanga on Boy Meets World.

Kris tweeted about it after they filmed it, saying "Just did Danielle fishels show on e! Who is Aka topanga! Boyhood dreams coming true."

Here's video posted from the show:

More From The Krim Show

Jim Cantiello and Kris Allen continue to bring the funny with their MTV News interviews. We got three hilarious videos on Friday at out of their recent visit.

We'll start with the always hilarious Tweet Beat. This one had me dying of laughter, as Jim created and sang new lyrics for "Live Like We're Dying" to go along with Kris' Sky Mall tweets, which Kris himself did the voice-over for.

Jim added another segment to his six-part Kris interview, chatting with Kris about why he changed his Twitter name from @KrisAllen4Real to @KrisAllen. Kris talks about how he and sax player Kris Allen once made fun of Southern Thunder's Kris Allen a while ago on MySpace and says he wants to meet Southern Thunder Kris Allen really badly.

Jim and Kris ate Krim birthday cake, sent to Jim by some of Kris' fans after Jim tweeted that David Archuleta fans were the sweetest ever. As Jim explains this, Kris demonstrates his fans' reactions to that by doing three snaps in Z formation. OMG. BWAHAHAHA

And finally, here's one more video from the Krim interview that aired on AMTV. This is Kris talking about the Elle photo shoot and putting on the wings and platform boots:

Kris Allen On VH1 News

Kris Allen talks to VH1 News about maintaining his musical identity, writing songs about his relationship ("It's almost easier for me to write about the fights than to write about the day we go to the park or something") and the scary fan who stuck her tongue down his mouth while he was posing for a picture with her.

Kris Allen Gives His NFL Picks

Green Bay Packers fan Kris Allen gives his pigskin prognostications for a few NFL games this week for Fox Sports. Naturally, he picks the Packers to win. In a surprise, though, he picks the Washington Redskins to beat the Dallas Cowboys, claiming the Cowboys have been a bit flip-floppy. Uh, Kris, they've won four of their last five. That ain't exactly flip-floppy. LOL.

They also have him choose between the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions. He pretty much summed it up by saying "The Lions and the Cleveland Browns. This is a tough one because they're both ... not very good." Heh. He picked the Lions because the people at Motown treated him well when he went there.

It's nice to see Kris' management trying to market to the male demographic with this and the Dolphins' tailgate gig. The female Idol fanbase can only carry you so far.

Star Picks: Kris Allen

Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert Switch Singles

Danny Gokey and his record label have decided to not release "It's Only" to radio after all, and are now instead releasing the song "My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me." The new song was written by Marv Green, who co-wrote "Amazed" by Lonestar, and Kent Blazy, who co-wrote "Ain't Goin' Down Till The Sun Goes Up" by Garth Brooks.

Like "It's Only", the song is inspirational goop. Except this one is a thousand times better. It's actually a pretty decent song (I'm not really a country fan, so consider that a compliment).

Listen here:

I'm generally not a big fan of dropping a song as a single after just two weeks (it screams FAIL! to me), but this needed to be done. Danny's original single "It's Only" was just dreadful with no melodic structure. This one is way more radio-friendly and actually has a chorus, which is more than I can say for the first one.

A similar thing seems to be happening with Adam Lambert, whose "For Your Entertainment" may be dead in the water on radio now that they've released "Whataya Want From Me" to radio this week. Z100 has added it to its playlist already, and KIIS-FM has given it some spins. "For Your Entertainment" was not making a whole lot of progress with Top 40 radio, which is very strange to me because its dance beat is very much in line with what's being played right now, but it didn't catch on. Oddly enough, Hot AC was playing FYE more than Top 40, which just boggles my mind. What's really interesting about this is that Adam just filmed his music video for "For Your Entertainment" this weekend. Adam's handling in regards to radio is truly baffling.

Allison Iraheta - Acoustic Don't Waste The Pretty

Allison Iraheta is doing a radio tour on the east coast, and she turned up at Hot 99.5 FM in the Washington, DC area to play an acoustic set. Check out her awesome acoustic version of "Don't Waste The Pretty":

You can also visit the Hot 99.5 website to watch the video on demand there and view a bunch of photos from Allison's day in the studio.

Allison's CD Just Like You arrives in stores on Dec. 1.

Michael Slezak's 7-Part Kris Allen Interview

Entertainment Weekly's Idol guru Michael Slezak scored a 7-part in-depth video interview this week with Kris Allen about his album and the writing and recording process of nearly every song on the CD (with included song snippets. Well played, Slezak).

They also talked about the making of his music video (Basically, Kris was all Heh. Fire!), the difficulties of singing "Live Like We're Dying" ("Dang you, Script! What are you doing? You're screwing me!" he joked), picking his band, and being intimidated early in the collaboration process. In the last video, Slezak pushes hard for "Before We Come Undone" to be the second single. I think I'm on that train too, but only because "Alright With Me" needs to be saved for the summer. That song screams summer smash.

Amusingly, Kris and Slezak also discuss the constant analysis/scrutiny of every little thing that in reality wasn't even given much a second thought, such as his wedding ring being prominent on the CD cover and what he's looking at on his cover (Kris, I thought you were staying away from the blogs!)

It's a great interview, as expected, from Mr. Slezak. Check it out here (and make sure to check out how the article is categorized just under the byline - "Fa-fa-fa-fa-fashion", "Kris Allen Kills Us With Cuteness", "Things That Are Awesome!"):

Kris Allen: A seven-part (!) journey into the making of the 'Idol' champ's self-titled debut CD

Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert Pictured In People's Sexiest Man Alive Issue

Well, my speculation (emphasis on speculation; I never said it was actual) earlier was off a little. Oops. Turns out the only Idols featured in People's Sexiest Man Alive issue were Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert. David Cook and Kris Allen were featured in a video on the Sexiest Man Alive page but were not included in the issue.

Because I keep seeing this repeated everywhere, I would like to emphasize that there is no ranking for the Sexiest Men, outside of THE Sexiest Man Alive for this year, Johnny Depp. People's website put up a photo gallery up of some of the men in the issue, and some people got confused and thought that since the photos were numbered, they were ranked. That is not the case. There is no ranking outside of THE sexiest man alive for 2009, Johnny Depp (I beg to diffa, but that's another story. BRADLEY COOPER got screwed!).

Adam was listed under "Sexiest Rocker" with a small thumbnail-size photo (with the same picture and quote they used on the People website). Daughtry got a full page under "Sexiest Song" with the same photo from the website as well (also in this category are Flo Rida and Josh Groban).

Adam, Kris, Katy On Us Weekly Red Carpet

Kris Allen and Adam Lambert met up at the US Weekly Hollywood Hot List party on Wednesday night. Kris, who had just flown back to Los Angeles from New York, came with his wife Katy. Both guys were honored by the magazine on its Hollywood Hot List, with Kris being named Victor of the Year and Adam Glam God of the Year.

Photos below (and is just me, or is Kris looking a bit Mayer-esque in that first solo photo?):

Adam was interviewed live on the red carpet by Fox 11 in LA:

And MTV talked to both of them about what makes each other a hottie (and Kris points out Adam's, uh, ring. And I'm so not buying that he doesn't know just what that is!):

Kris Allen - Cosmo Radio Interview

Kris Allen did a nine and a half minute-long interview with Cosmo Radio on Sirius/XM on Wednesday. He talked about possibly doing a cover of "Electric Feel" by MGMT, picking his band members from Cosmo Magazine (shoutout to Cosmo's Arkansas Sexiest Bachelor, Cale Mills), his wife ("the only reason they talk about her is because she's hot!") and people waiting for/expecting them to not be doing well in their relationship ("we're doing awesome", and going home for Thanksgiving. He also gave shoutouts to Anoop Desai (pink eye and all) and Matt Giraud at the end.

The funniest part came when he talked about going to the John Mayer concert and joked that he was thinking "What if I went up to him and was like 'you know John, I'm going on tour and trying to find someone to open for me. So maybe you'd want to do that.'" HA. That would have been priceless.

Audio capture of the interview thanks to @j_tak:

Kris Allen On MTV News

Kris Allen sat down with MTV News reporter (and Krim Show cohort) Jim Cantiello for a mostly serious 6-part discussion about Kris' album.

Kris shares some interesting information, such as his desire to not have put with this particular version of "Heartless" on the CD ("it was different for me"), how he bumped iTunes preorder bonus track "From The Ashes" in favor of "Is It Over", and how his stubbornness about writing every song made "The Truth" a song that had to grow on him. He also singles out Lindy Robbins, Jon Foreman and Joe King as people he really collaborated well with. Also addressed was the missing Mat Kearney track (called "Top of the World") that was mostly acoustic but with a dance beat. Kris promises that it will get heard "sometime". He mentioned just before talking about the Kearney song that maybe they'll do an iTunes EP with more acoustic stuff. *crossing fingers*

Rather than post every single video (too much scrolling!), here's part one. At the end of each clip will be a link to the next video. I'll also put text links to the other parts.

Part 2 - on "Red Guitar", "Bring It Back" and "I Need To Know"
Part 3 - on "Alright With Me" potentially being a single and having "The Truth" grow on him
Part 4 - on "Is It Over" bumping "From the Ashes" to the iTunes preorder, a submitted album title (Translate Your Soul), the Mat Kearney track and a Kevin Rudolf/Lifehouse song ("Better Than That") that didn't make the album either
Part 5 - on "Let It Rain" and releasing the same day as John Mayer, 50 Cent and Leona Lewis (this is particularly hysterical, so make sure to watch it. Jim asks Kris who his biggest competition is, and he says 50 Cent. "I'm scared of him. He got shot, dude! I've never gotten shot. John Mayer hasn't been shot. Leona Lewis, she got punched; she's didn't get shot, though."
Part 6 - on "Heartless"

Kris and Jim weren't all serious (I mean, really. This is Krim we're talking about) during their visit. They also filmed this bit for AMTV, where Kris tries to pitch his CD:

Allison Iraheta's Friday I'll Be Over U Video

Allison Iraheta premiered her music video for "Friday I'll Be Over U" on Yahoo Music tonight. The video is very 80's-inspired and very much targeted towards her youthful demographic. It's a little reminiscent of a department store commercial, but Allison is TOTALLY adorable in it.

BTW - Allison sitting on that lips couch ... with her dress flared out like that she looks like Norah Jones on her Not Too Late album.

Kris Allen Hits NYC Talk Shows, John Mayer Concert

Kris Allen has been making the rounds in New York City, performing on various talk shows and doing various interviews. After performing at Good Morning America on Tuesday, he visited MTV for a performance on It's On With Alexa Chung:

On Wednesday, it was Live with Regis & Kelly:

Kris spent Tuesday night at the John Mayer concert that was broadcast live on Fuse. He met Steven Tyler at the show and was caught on camera singing along to "Bigger Than My Body" (he appears at 2:11):

And this news piece featuring an interview with Kris ran on Fuse as well:

Kris Allen On Good Morning America

Kris Allen performed on Good Morning America today to promote his album release. They showed him singing "Live Like We're Dying" on air and added a bonus "Can't Stay Away" (could this be the second single??) on the GMA website.

Video links are below:

"Live Like We're Dying"

"Can't Stay Away"

Kris Allen's CD In Stores Now!

Kris Allen's self-titled CD is now available in stores and on iTunes. The CD has already hit #1 on the iTunes pop chart and #4 on the overall album chart!

If you pre-ordered from iTunes, you would have gotten the bonus track "From the Ashes", which is a more up-tempo track co-written by Kris and Lindy Robbins. The song is in the same vein as "Before We Come Undone" but with some strings (!!). If you buy the CD at Wal-Mart, you'll get the bonus track "Send Me All Your Angels", co-written by Kris and Chris Daughtry. I really like both songs! And that Mat Kearney song really needs to show up somewhere. Seriously.

Kris stopped by the MTV offices to talk to Jim Cantiello about the album, and they talked about how Kris made songwriting a priority. Kris talked about the struggles he had with collaborating with other songwriters, and it wasn't until after the tour was over that he "felt he finally 'manned up' about his songwriting sessions with others." Kris connected really well with Lindy Robbins ("She was kinda like a mom almost. I feel like she could feel what I was thinking, so she would always hone it in. ... She's really sweet."), Joe King and Jon Foreman ("As an artist, I feel like I can relate to them. And obviously, Jon Foreman's lyrics are outta this world.")

Kris also revealed that he dropped the iTunes bonus track "From the Ashes" from the actual CD in favor of "Is It Over", which he co-wrote with his friend and guitarist Cale Mills, and that "The Truth" had to grow on him, mostly because he was stubborn about wanting to write all the songs. LOL. That is why I felt guilty for liking the song so much.

Listen To Adam Lambert's CD

Adam Lambert's CD For Your Entertainment is being streamed online at Facebook and MySpace. The CD will be available in stores and on iTunes on Nov. 23.

Check out the tracks and let us know what your favorite is. I'm leaning towards Whataya Want From Me, which appears to have been released to radio now (I don't get this strategy, though, since For Your Entertainment is the lead single, and they just shot the video for it)

Adam Lambert In Out Magazine

Out Magazine published a really lengthy Adam Lambert two-part Q&A on their website. It's a really interesting read. Adam talks at length about a variety of issues, including addressing his sexuality (or not) on Idol, the weighty expectations on him, what his type is, his "crush" on Kris Allen, his relationships with the more religious Michael Sarver and Danny Gokey, sex with women, drugs, people having no boundaries, his relationship with his boyfriend (this was done well before their breakup), and more.

It's quite sad to read Adam talking about his relationship with Drake in hindsight, but it sounds like Adam knew it might not work out. Or had a doomsday scenario. Check this part out: "The other thing that’s really hard is that you have to decide whether or not you have the focus and the energy to give to the other person. That’s a difficult thing, too. And who knows what the future could hold with that. I might have to say, 'You know, this is how much I love you, that I have to let you go. I can’t give you what you deserve right now, so this isn’t going to work.' Hopefully it works. I want it to. But we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. Out of the love I have for him, I don’t want to neglect it."

And then things got REALLY interesting. The editor of Out, Aaron Hicklin, wrote a scathing letter discussing how Adam's management handled Adam's appearance in the magazine. According to Hicklin, the magazine was told to make sure Adam didn't look "too gay", and that the only reason management let him be photographed for the cover is because there's a straight woman in the group shot. Hicklin also slammed Adam a little for his Details magazine cover story, writing, "Much easier to stick you in Details, where your homosexuality can be neutralized by having you...saying, 'Women are pretty.' So are kittens, Adam, but it doesn't mean you have to make out with them."

I'm not sure what to make of this whole thing. If they are trying to stifle his gay, that's really messed up. But at the same time, Adam has talked about making out with women in what - 3 magazines now? It's really starting to come across as pandering to the Glamberts/record-buying audience to me, and that kind of bugs me.

Adam Lambert Films Music Video

Adam Lambert, American Idol runner-up, shoots a music video in Downtown Los Angeles dressed up in leather
Adam Lambert filmed his music video for "For Your Entertainment" on Sunday in Downtown LA, and if the costuming is any indication, this is going to be one interesting video. Adam looks to be fully clothed, but his dancers/extras? Uh, not so much.

You can check out some paparazzi photos of Adam and dancers/extras at

I think I spy So You Think You Can Dance Season 4 finalist Courtney Galiano in one of the photos.

Kris Allen On Local Fox Morning Shows Monday

It appears as if Kris Allen will be doing some satellite interviews on several local Fox affiliates on Monday morning. From various online sources and tweets, there is confirmation that he is doing interviews with the following stations:

Fox 10 News Phoenix - 8:20 am MT
Good Day Utah (Fox 13 Salt Lake City) - sometime between 6-9 am MT
Fox News Rising (Charlotte) - time unknown

There may be more, so check your local Fox morning show Monday morning. You might get a nice surprise!

He is also doing an interview with MTV's Jim Cantiello, so prepare yourself for some inevitable epic that happens whenever those two get together.

Speaking of Krim, Jim shared his karaoke skills over the weekend with his version of "No Boundaries":

Kris Allen Performs LLWD On Conan

Kris Allen kicked off his national promotion for his album release with a televised performance of his single "Live Like We're Dying" on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. This was just his second live performance of the song with his band. Kris sounded (and looked) great! And I have to give a high five to Kris' drummer Ryland, who was wearing the Ed Harris t-shirt that was used on a Conan gag earlier in the show.

If you missed the performance, check the video out here:

Kris will be performing on TV a few more times this coming week. On Tuesday, the day his album drops, he will be on Good Morning America (ABC) and It's On With Alexa Chung (MTV), and on Wednesday the 18th, he will be on Live with Regis & Kelly. The following week, he will present at the American Music Awards on Nov. 22nd and perform on Ellen on Nov. 23.

Allison Iraheta Yahoo Music Interview

Check out a lengthy interview with Allison Iraheta by Yahoo Music's Lyndsey Parker. Allison talks at length about her album, track-by-track. And Lyndsey makes a bold statement about "Friday I'll Be Over U" being the best Idol debut single EVER. (She also made a claim on Twitter that Adam Lambert's "Music Again" is the best Idol song EVER. Um, yeah. "Since U Been Gone" and "Because Of U" would like to have a few words with you, Parker.)

Kris Allen Talks About His CD

Kris Allen talked with some media outlets this week about his CD, which is dropping on Nov. 17.

An article from Reuters touches on the differences between Kris recording Brand New Shoes and this CD: "Allen had the luxury of time, for one thing, unlike when he booked the studio himself on his first album and had only a few days to record. This time, he also included exotic instruments, including a sitar, and experimented with different styles, from pop to the blues."

New York Magazine's Vulture delves deeper with Kris into the album and its themes. When asked why a lot of the songs are about breakups or troubled relationships, Kris said, "Yeah, it's funny. When you write an album and you're writing about relationships, the stuff that I've been through in my relationships, 99 percent of it is really good, but it's that one percent that always inspires you to write a song. It's easy to write a song about the hard times you're going through. It's harder to write a song about the good times. So that's why some of those songs are about the hard times in a relationship." Kris also made this amusing comment about the exclusion of "No Boundaries": "I think there was a discussion about it. But we felt like we had a lot better stuff than that song to go on the album."

And a few video interviews from Tuesday's People's Choice Awards nominations -

A couple of brief reviews of the CD have emerged from some magazines. Entertainment Weekly gave it a B- (they also gave fellow Nov. 17 release date CDs from John Mayer, Justin Bieber and Norah Jones B-minuses, so at least he's on an even playing field with his competition for the week). People Magazine (thanks @teamaims!) gave it 2.5 stars out of 4, the same grade Carrie Underwood's CD got in the same issue. I disagree with some of the criticism they leveled, but I love that both magazines talk about Kris' vocals being a strong point. USA Today's Idol Chatter does a track-by-track "review" that reads more like a recap, with a list of favorites at the end. Interestingly, all three reviews single out "Heartless" as a standout track. I say "interestingly" because a lot of Kris fans find that track to be an ill fit for the album. And I need To know (pun intended) - where is the "Bring It Back" love?!

Also, is reporting that Kris will be a presenter at the American Music Awards on Nov. 22.
