Idol News Roundup 9/1/09

Part One of Allison Iraheta's LA Times Ultimate Interview talks about her early years in music. She has been performing since she was 6 years old, and she performed with her band (Allison and the Gurus) at a Paramount event last year that Brooke White and Michael Johns were at. She and her band used to play a rock version of "Bleeding Love". Need video STAT. She also had a band called Allison and the Dudes. LOL.

Anoop Desai talks about the tour on the American Idol website. He also says he's a sucker for love songs. "That's one theme there will never be enough songs about," he said. "Also, a lot of my songs will be organic and about my experience of going from anonymity to this."

This Danny Gokey feature in the Weekender sounds familiar. Perhaps it was published earlier? He theorized that had he been in the finale with Adam, he could have won. "When I got voted off, I think me and Kris kind of tended to draw from the same crowd," he said. "So if I wouldn’t have gotten voted off, and he got voted off, I think our fan bases probably would have voted for each other (over Lambert)." I still disagree with this. There are too many Kradam, Kradison and Adison fans out there for that to have happened.

Elliott Yamin is a long-time Angel fan, name drops Johnny Ray, of all people, and travels with a Rally Monkey. OMG. Let's be BFFs, Elliott!

The Chicago Tribune reviewed Carrie Underwood's concert at Ravinia.

Melinda Doolittle will be a guest on Out & About this weekend (Ch. 5+ in Nashville). Melinda's got a new natural hairdo - no more wigs!

The Tennesseean profiles Phil Stacey. Half of the article is about Idol, the other half about his new gospel album.

Kellie Pickler is interviewed by Rodney Ho of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She says her tourmate Taylor Swift "keeps me in line. She takes care of me! She’s only 19 but she’s already a smart businesswoman and an incredible songwriter. And she’s great with her fans."

Yahoo Music's Reality Rocks has an interview with Blake Lewis and part two of an interview with Brooke White.

Shania Twain is having a great time as an Idol judge and has already developed a good rapport with Simon Cowell, reports People.com.

Avril Lavigne is going to be a guest judge during one of the LA audition dates, reports Entertainment Weekly's Michael Slezak. So much for some contestants' happy endings!
