Melinda Doolittle's debut album Coming Back To You is available on Amazon.com's mp3 downloads for just $5. The old-school sounding album got great reviews, with some calling it one of the best Idol releases.

Video Of The Day - Jennifer Hudson Sings Over The Rainbow

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson sang "Over the Rainbow" at the Netflix concert and movie screening of The Wizard of Oz in Central Park last night. You can stream the 70th anniversary remastered version of the movie for free from 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, October 3 to 9:00 a.m. Eastern the following day, by visiting www.netflix.com/wizardofoz.

Updates On The Season 8 Idols

Even though the tour is over, there is lots going on in Idol-land for the Season 8 Top 10 crew. Here's a summary of what they've been up to this week:

Kris Allen - Kris is currently in London working with songwriter Eg White ("Chasing Pavements", "You Give Me Something", "Wonderful World"), along with "Live Like We're Dying" writers/producers Andrew Frampton and Steve Kipner ... Arkansas radio station K971-FM tweeted today that Kris and Chris Daughtry have "written songs together", but that Daughtry doesn't know if it will make the album and won't reveal the name of the song ... Kris won the Relly Award for Best Newbie on Live with Regis & Kelly today ... Kris' single "Live Like We're Dying" was made available on iTunes and Amazon.com on Friday and sold 15,755 copies over the weekend to debut at #93 on Billboard's digital download chart. Ads for the single were not put up on iTunes until Tuesday, and the song surged back up the iTunes chart to the Top 30. Z-100 also began to put the song in rotation on Wednesday. It was played just before the 9 at 9 show ... Kris' studio version of "To Make You Feel My Love" was used in someone's audition on Wednesday's So You Think You Can Dance.

Adam Lambert - Adam has been in the studio the last couple of days. He was working with Linda Perry on Monday and Greg Wells Wednesday. Linda Perry has written and produced for Christina Aguilera ("Beautiful") and Pink ("Get The Party Started") and was the lead singer of the group 4 Non Blondes. Adam did one of his Hollywood auditions on Idol to their "What's Goin' On." Wells produced "Apologize", "Waking Up In Vegas" and Mika's "Grace Kelly" and co-wrote "I Do Not Hook Up" ... Adam also announced the winners of the DonorsChoose Fan Challenge (ONTD_AI) and filmed a thank you video to all the fans, who collectively donated over $229,000 to DonorsChoose.org ... Pre-sales of Adam's upcoming CD hit #1 on Amazon.com and remains at #1 as of right now.

Danny Gokey - Danny has been in the studio recording with producer Mark Bright, who produced Carrie Underwood's CD. Chris Sligh tweeted Danny that he and Phil Stacey wrote a "monster" for him and will send it over ... Danny had a solo concert at Mount Saint Mary's College on Sunday. He performed 11 songs, including "My Wish", "Maria Maria", "Smooth", "Life Is A Highway", "PYT", and "Ain't Too Proud to Beg". You can watch some videos from the show at this YouTube Channel.

Allison Iraheta - Allison's CD, which will be released on Dec. 1, also went up for pre-sales on Amazon.com and rose up to #3 on the Movers & Shakers list ... Allison had a twitter party on Saturday and answered about 75 questions in less than an hour, including one that is way too inapporpriate to repeat, causing Anoop to tweet back to her "alli, nooo...?" ... On Tuesday, Allison did some recording and engaged in a twitter battle with the MFB ... On Wednesday, she dressed up her dogs to retaliate for them pooping on her floor.

Matt Giraud - Matt performed in Santa Barbara on Friday for a fundraiser for the Dream Foundation. He has been in LA since, doing writing sessions with Daniel James Pringle and Michelle Featherstone. Matt and Daniel videotaped a rap for Matt's fans on YouTube ... Matt was also interviewed on ABC News earlier in the week.

Anoop Desai - Anoop joined WRAL for a fun news segment about "training" for his upcoming State Fair performance. Anoop stuffs his face with fair food, does jumping jacks into the weather report and does the robot with a choreographer.

Scott MacIntyre - Scott vacationed in Kauai and did a small impromptu concert at Small Town Coffee in Kapa'a last night.

Megan Joy - Megan performed two songs at the SOC (SendOutCards) Convention in Salt Lake City last weekend - "Black Horse & The Cherry Tree" and an original song.

Michael Sarver - Michael has been writing and recording for his album. He is at song #912.

Anoop Desai "Trains" For The State Fair

Anoop Desai will be performing at the North Carolina State Fair on Oct. 22 and has begun "training" for the performance with the help of WRAL. Anoop's training consists of exercise, dance training, and a fair-appropriate diet of corn dogs, cotton candy, candy apples, sticky buns and popcorn.

Check out the hilarious video here:

Katharine McPhee, Phoebe Buffay At Feeding America Benefit Concert

Katharine McPhee performed at the "Rock A Little, Feed A Lot" benefit concert for Feeding America in LA last night. She did two songs - "Me" by Paula Cole and her single "Had It All" (videos from YouTube user nothlithawk777).

Lisa Kudrow, with Courteney Cox, gave the crowd a little bit of her Friends character Phoebe Buffay's most famous song, "Smelly Cat", upon request. LOL classic.

Other performers at the concert included Sheryl Crow, Ben Harper, Benji & Joel Madden and Jonny Lang. Adam Shankman directed the event. More highlights and info at MyFoxLA.

Ryan Star Album Tidbits

Ryan Star's upcoming album 11:59 is going to include previously recorded tracks "Back Of Your Car", "Losing Your Memory" and "We Might Fall", according to this excellent Q&A with Melodic.net.

He said, "'Back of Your Car' is on there for sure. It actually closes out the album, sort of paying homage to where I´ve come from. There are certain songs that I´ve done that have never gotten fully realized, for example 'Losing Your Memory', which I love. Both are off of Songs From The Eye Of An Elephant, which really was essentially just blueprints of songs. So for me, it was important to go back to the ones that I loved. 'We Might Fall' is another one. It´s really exciting to hear it the way I´d always imagined it in my head. I needed some more time to do it right, versus just doing it in my living room."

Those three songs are amongst my favorites from Songs From The Eye Of An Elephant, and when you add in "11:59", "Breathe" and the songs from the Last Train Home EP (buy on iTunes) that I presume will be on the album ("Last Train Home", "Right Now", "Brand New Day", "This Could Be The Year"), you're looking at one amazing album. I seriously need this now. And I need "You And Me" on there too. K thanks.

Ryan is back on tour with David Cook. Here are the remaining tour dates:
Oct 2 - Montreal, QC. Metropolis
Oct 9 - Clifton Park, NY. Northern Lights
Oct 10 - Providence, RI. Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel
Oct 11 - Charlottesville, VA The Paramount
Oct 13 - Richmond, VA. The National
Oct 15 - North Mytle Beach, SC. House of Blues

Video Of The Day - Matt G And Vitamin D

Matt Giraud has been in LA writing and working in the studio with Daniel James Pringle, who has also worked with Allison Iraheta on her album and who has co-written songs for Disney-types Vanessa Hudgens, Aly & AJ and Jordan Pruitt. Not Matt's sound, but he does love him some Disney!

Anyway, Matt G and Vitamin D, as they are known in the rap world (lol), recorded a little rap in the studio and posted it on YouTube (too long for a BubbleTweet). Matt is cool like a peppermint patty and wants to hit it like a baseball batty (crack!). ROFL

Adam Lambert Fans Donate Over $200K To DonorsChoose.org

Adam Lambert's four-week long DonorsChoose.org Fan Challenge raised $229,000 to support high-need public school classrooms nationwide. Nearly 2,000 fans contributed to the cause, and ONTD_AI won the Fan Challenge by collectively raising a whopping $82,700. Congratulations and kudos!

DonorsChoose.org also singled out the Top 10 individual donors: 1. Maria from Florida: $8,406; 2. Debra from North Carolina: $6,088; 3. Becky from Alabama: $5,682; 4. Anonymous, Iowa: $5,445; 5. Monika from Maryland: $3,703; 6. Anonymous, Tennessee: $3,584; 7. Beth from Maryland: $3,513; 8. Sandra from Virginia: $3,211; 9. Barbara from Missouri: $3,151; and 10. Susan from California: $2,836. (I don't get the non-rounded donation numbers ... but maybe I'm just OCD about stuff like that)

In a press statement, Adam said, "I am unbelievably moved by the generosity and resolve of my fans, who have donated beyond what I could have ever expected to help students around the country. Although I was on tour during the length of the competition, I frequently checked in on the challenge progress and was so amazed to see the number of donors and total amount donated continue to rise and rise. Congratulations and thank you to ONTD_AI for an astounding win -- your commitment is inspiring! And above all, I want to sincerely thank all of my fans for being the most incredible people in the world and making the dreams of thousands of students possible. As a result of the tremendous outpouring of support, we're making it possible to continue to donate at www.donorschoose.org/AdamLambert on behalf of each fan group -- which is so exciting."

Adam, looking a little Jack Sparrow-esque with facial hair, also recorded a thank you video to the fans:

Blake Lewis' sophomore CD Heartbreak on Vinyl will go on sale Oct. 6, but you can preview the full CD a week in advance at AOL Music.

Kris Allen Working With Adele, James Morrison Co-Writer

Kris Allen is in London right now working with Eg White, whose co-writes include Adele's "Chasing Pavements" and James Morrison's "You Give Me Something" and "Wonderful World".

I'm excited about this collaboration. James Morrison type of music is pretty much Kris' sound. In fact, I've seen a few people say that "Live Like We're Dying" sounds James Morrison-y. (As a little bit of an aside, I love James Morrison's song with Nelly Furtado - "Broken Strings")

Kris had a little fun with his twitter followers, giving just a tiny riddle of who he was working with: "riddle to see who im working with: breakfast food. thats all you get." He later added another hint, saying it was a lowfat breakfast food. About 20 minutes later, he replied back to someone who guessed correctly, saying, "@raqqers Eg white... whats my prize?? YOU WIN!!! i never said anything about prizes. you think you dont know him but you do. look him up" (nice twitter fail, Kris. Should've RT'd that. LOL)

Eg White has an Idol connection. He wrote Pop Idol Will Young's hit song "Leave Right Now" and also worked on a few tracks on Tamyra's Gray's album Dreamer.

In addition to Adele and James Morrison, other artists he has worked with include James Blunt, Pink, Duffy, Joss Stone, Take That, Sam Sparro, Natalie Imbruglia, and Kylie Minogue.

To read more about Eg White and his songwriting process, check out this interview in the Telegraph.

Six Degrees Of Scoring Separation

The judges were fixated on the number six tonight on Dancing with the Stars, with more than half of the whopping 14 couples receiving at least one six. Bruno Tonioli was especially stuck on the number, giving seven couples the same six score. What's crazy about that is that with those marks, he equated Melissa Joan Hart, Louie Vito and Kelly Osbourne with the likes of Stepford dancer Kathy Ireland, scary dancer Chuck Lidell and geriatric dancer Tom DeLay.

High honors went to Aaron Carter and Mya. Aaron Carter told Valentine on 104.3 MyFM on Monday morning that he was "going to win" DWTS and that he's going to be in the finals with Donny Osmond and Joanna Krupa. Oh REALLLLLLY. Not if I have anything to say about it, jackass. Aaron's real competition (other than his mouth) is Mya. That girl can DANCE. And Dmitry can choreograph. That jive they did tonight was outstanding. I could've done with the nerd schtick, but the dancing part was phenomenal. And don't count out Louie Vito. He's a short athlete. Short athletes historically go pretty far on this show (Apolo Anton Ono, Helio Castroneves, Kristi Yamaguchi, Shawn Johnson. Emmitt Smith was short for a football player. Drew Lachey wasn't an athlete, but he was built like a short athlete). Louie has potential and charm. And Chelsie Hightower, who got another short athlete, Ty Murray, pretty far last year.

Natalie Coughlin/Alec Mazo - Quickstep ("I Want You Back")
Her facial expressions are still killing me. She remembered to smile every once in a while, but a lot of the time she looked like she was just trying too hard to remember the steps. She also needs to point her feet when she does moves that emphasize her legs, like when she did the splits. The flexed feet are not pretty.
Scores: 7-7-7=21

Chuck Lidell/Anna Trebunskaya - Tango ("Seven Nation Army")
I was actually kind of enjoying that until the end. That was surprisingly decent. He definitely brought the appropriate intensity. And he had the best song of the night.
Scores: 6-7-6=19

Melissa Joan Hart/Mark Ballas - Jive
She is still putting off the sweet little Sabrina vibes, and I do worry about what she's going to do when she has to dance sexy. The dance had good energy, and I think she was underscored here.
Scores: 7-6-6=19

Michael Irvin/Anna Demidova - Quickstep ("It's Too Darn Hot")
That was a fun dance, and I thought overall he did a good job. He sold it.
Scores: 7-7-6=20

Debi Mazar/Maksim Chmerikovskiy - Tango ("Tango de Roxanne")
That was one hot routine. Debi needs to dance more in it, however. Her movements are not always fluid in a dance sense. Like when she walked down the steps at the beginning, she could have done that less casually. But she sold it as an actress.
Scores: 7-7-7=21

Louie Vito/Chelsie Hightower - Jive ("Crash")
That was an impressive jump at the open. He definitely has charm. He did seem to lose focus at some point, but overall, it was a good job. Chelsie again did a nice job with choreography. I smell a dark horse.
Scores: 6-7-6=19

Aaron Carter/Karina Smirnoff - Quickstep ("The Muppet Show")
I was going to rage at the fact that they got actual Muppets in on their act (hi, gimmick much?), but then I realized that they had to dance to the freakin' Muppet Show theme. I guess that's the trade-off. But really, show? Who decided that doing a routine to this was a good idea? I can't even critique this. I'm just flabbergasted about this Muppet Show business. Really, show?
Scores: 9-9-9=27

Kelly Osbourne/Louis van Amstel - Tango ("Take Me On The Floor")
She's stumbling all over the place in this one. This dance is more precise and technical than her first one, and she struggled to keep up with Louis.
Scores: 6-7-6=19

Kathy Ireland/Tony Dovolani - Quickstep ("Shall We Dance")
She has great upright posture, but at the same time it makes her look snooty and detached from Tony. It doesn't help her Stepford image she's been presenting on the show. Much better than last week, though.
Scores: 6-6-6=18

Mark Dacascos/Lacey Schwimmer - Quickstep
He had a noticeable stumble in the beginning (it looked like his knees buckled), but he didn't let it affect him at all. The rest of his dance after that point was really good.
Scores: 7-7-7=21

Mya/Dmitry Chaplin - Jive
I thought this was Mark Ballas at first with the nerd look. That's so his schtick. But you know what? Dmitry can choreograph his ass off. And Mya can dance her ass off. These two are great.
Scores: 9-9-9=27

Tom DeLay/Cheryl Burke - Tango
Oh dear. Too bad about that ending because it was going so well until then! I felt so bad for him; he looked SO disappointed and pained.
Scores: 6-6-6=18

Donny Osmond/Kym Johnson - Jive ("Secret Agent Man")
I can't believe he's 51. He's got the energy of a 21 year old man. And the neediness of a 21 year-old woman.
Scores: 9-8-8=25

Samantha Harris cringe-worthy comment of the show - To Chuck and Anna: "It's really nice that Bruno gave you his endorsement, although last week when Len gave Macy his endorsement, she got voted off. So maybe that's not a good thing. I'm not sure." Way to stick that in the voters' head, lady.

Worst music bastardization - "The Muppet Show". Seriously. Why? The caricatured French accent in "Tango de Roxanne" was a close second, though.

Allison Iraheta's CD To Be Released Dec. 1?

Amazon.com is now listing a Dec. 1 release date for Allison Iraheta's debut CD. You can pre-order the CD by clicking here.

Allison had a twitter party over the weekend (and my god, that girl is a FAST tweeter! She answered about 75 questions in less than an hour). She was asked when her single and her album were coming out, and she said "not sure yet" to both questions. No official announcement from Allison or her people just yet, but this date sounds legit to me.

Pre-order Allison's CD at Amazon.com.

IceChat 2009

In case you missed it, American Idol Season 7 winner David Cook tweeted Season 8 winner Kris Allen some advice tonight. No, it wasn't about music or about handling the pressures of being THE American Idol. It was about ice.

Yes, ice.

It all started with a tweet from Kris, who was flying out to London tonight to do some work on his album. Kris tweeted, "ICE SHIFT! Why? Seriously God.....why?". And after twitter-land collectively went "LOL WUT?!", Kris tweeted back to explain: "Ice shift: when the ice in your cup shifts just perfectly to where most of the drink ends up all over your face."

Cook replied back to Kris a few minutes later, tweeting, "@KrisAllen4Real - you gotta shake the ice loose. its a whole system. took me years to master".

MTV's Idol reporter Jim Cantiello then basically tweeted what all the Idol fans were thinking: "@thedavidcook @KrisAllen4Real - OMG Idol to Idol advice over Twitter. Brain....exploded. Like ice on my face. Now go download Grizzly Bear!"

Kris replied to Cook: "@thedavidcook I'm still learning. You would think with 24 years of experience with ice I would have it down, but....."

And Cook again replied back with: "@KrisAllen4Real - them Idol folk really dont teach us the important stuff like ice shifting troubleshooting"

LOL classic. I love these two so much.

So does Jim: "As much as I'm enjoying (aka freaking and flailing over) IceChat 2009, I need to go to bed. I'm interviewing Screech this week!"

Justin Guarini Ties The Knot

American Idol Season 1 runner-up Justin Guarini tied the knot in Pennsylvania on Saturday, getting married to an old high school friend, Reina Capodici. Justin and Reina have known each other since high school but did not start dating until two years ago. Justin proposed to Reina at Disney World's Epcot Center.

The bride and groom read their own vows during the ceremony, and Vitamin String Quartet performed music by, amongst others, Radiohead, Paramore and Peter Gabriel. He told TV Guide, "We didn't want to have typical wedding music. We wanted to have songs that meant a lot to us but performed very uniquely."

Along with being a newlywed, Justin is now also a step-father to Reina's four-year old Lola. He told TV Guide, "She is so sweet, kind, understanding and an intelligent little girl so it was no sweat for me making the adjustment. I've had so much fun being a parental figure for her."

For more info on the nuptials, visit Radar Online, which got the (maybe not-so exclusive) wedding photo at the top. People Magazine has another wedding photo, plus a comment from Justin's Idol Tonight co-host Kimberly Caldwell, who said, "Justin is one of the most deserving people of happiness and love. I know he will be an amazing hubby."

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Video Of The Day - Carrie Underwood Cowboy Casanova

The music video for Carrie Underwood's new single "Cowboy Casanova" has been released. Carrie dances! And doesn't look totally awkward! And yeah, she looks gorgeous (as usual). Carrie has a crew of backup dancers with her throughout the video, and I was half-expecting them to bust out withe "Love is a Battlefield" choreography at one point. Haha.

Adam Lambert CD Pre-Orders Rising On Amazon.com

Amazon.com began taking pre-orders of Adam Lambert's debut CD today, and it's rising FAST on its music charts. As of right now (3:45 pm PT), it ranks #4 overall. Wow.

The CD is available on Nov. 24. This sets up an interesting battle between him and Susan Boyle, whose CD also drops that day. Susan Boyle's I Dreamed A Dream is ranked #3 just ahead of Adam. What's #1? Barbra Streisand's Love is the Answer (Deluxe Edition) CD, which comes out on Tuesday.

ETA at 10 pm PT on 9/27: Adam moved ahead of Susan Boyle and The Beatles Stereo Box Set to No. 2 on the charts. Who knew that Babs was still huge? And she has the non-deluxe version of that CD at No. 6 on the charts.

To pre-order Adam's CD, CLICK HERE.

Another Season 7 Reunion

Earlier in the month, there was a Season 7 Idol reunion at the David Cook concert in Los Angeles. Last night, there was another mini-reunion at the Michael Johns/Brooke White concert in Salt Lake City when David Archuleta, who was unable to come to Cook's concert, joined Michael, Brooke and Benton Paul on stage for two songs - "Let It Be" and "Proud Mary". Again, it's really adorable to see how much this group supports each other.

Let It Be (everyone's screwing up the lyrics, but who cares!):

Proud Mary (with lots of awkward dancing):

And from another angle:

Video Of The Day - Baby Dancing To Beyonce

Perhaps Kanye can use this video to strengthen his claim that Beyonce's "Singles Ladies" is one of the best videos of all time. You don't see babies dancing like this to "You Belong With Me", do you? Or did this little baby here bust into the middle of that video saying "I'mma let you finish, but my video is one of the best baby dancing videos of all time. Of ALL TIME!"?

This Week's Tweet Beat Features David Archuleta

Jim Cantiello gets a little inappropriate in this week's Tweet Beat, taking two tweets by sweet, innocent David Archuleta and turning it into smut.

Archie's tweet: "Everytime I go running my mouth and body crave pure juice! I want some so bad!"

After that tweet was read, Jim spit out what he was drinking and asked, "Am I the only pervert that went there with that tweet?"

And then another Archie tweet: "Left eye is red again. But went running again! This time with my mom haha." made him spit out his drink again.

Oh Jim. HAHA

Jim also snarks on Jessica Simpson's tweets from Uganda, Diablo Cody, Ashley Tisdale's nose job, and The Hills. And don't miss the bonus gratuitous Kris Allen mention near the end!

Two More Kris Allen Song Titles Revealed On EW's Réalité

As if Michael Slezak and Kristen Baldwin snarkily talking about TV isn't enough of a reason to watch the new Entertainment Weekly web series Réalité, they add in a Kris Allen interview during which he talks about two songs that will likely be on the album - "Written All Over My Face" and "Before We Come Undone" (Advantage, Krezak).

"Written All Over My Face" was written by the same people who wrote "Live Like We're Dying" - Andrew Frampton, Steve Kipner, and Danny O'Donoghue and Mark Sheehan of The Script. Except this one was never recorded (Thank God because I'm getting really annoyed with all the people acting so outraged that Kris "covered" a B-side that probably 98% of them hadn't heard of before the song title was revealed. I mean, hell, most of the people complaining can't even get the name of the band right. It's The Script. Not The Scripts. Singular, not plural). Kris co-wrote "Before We Come Undone" with Lindy Robbins and Greg Kurstin. Slezak described the song as "angsty".

As for Réalité, even though I only watch half of the shows they were talking about, Slezak and Baldwin totally drew me in and kept me interested because those two are freaking hilarious. I want to hang out in the cafeteria with them and talk about TV! And I totally agree about the Mark Dacascos Asian stereotyping business. Ancient Chinese Secret, huh? Can't wait until they start covering So You Think You Can Dance next week.

Video Of The Day - DwtS Patrick Swayze Tribute

I missed this on Wednesday due to a Tivo and scheduling conflict, but on the Dancing with the Stars results show, they did a Patrick Swayze tribute, with the pro dancers dancing to a medley of songs representing the late actor's most memorable movie moments. Chelsie and Dmitry danced to "She's Like The Wind", Anna and Jonathan danced to "Unchained Melody" from Ghost, and Cheryl and Tony recreated the famous Dirty Dancing scene, dancing to "Time Of My Life". No drag scenes from To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar. I feel a little ripped off.

Kris Allen's Live Like We're Dying On Sale Now!

Kris Allen's new single "Live Like We're Dying" is now on sale at iTunes and Amazon.com

To purchase on iTunes, click the button Kris Allen - Live Like We're Dying - Single - Live Like We're Dying

To purchase on Amazon.com, click here.

Kris is still hard at work on his album. He tweeted today that he wrote some "sweet muzac" with Jon Foreman (lead singer of Switchfoot) and Mike Elizondo (2008 Grammy nominee for Producer of the Year).

He will also be in studio with Ryan Seacrest at KIIS-FM Friday morning at 7 am. If this can somehow get in rotation on KIIS, Kris is golden. I'm not keeping my hopes up, though, because a) KIIS never plays David Cook and barely, if even, played "Crush" or Daughtry and b) it leans more urban than anything else. I'll just be happy if it catches on at 104.3 MyFM. It seemed like it took them a long time to play Cook, but they're still playing "Light On" along with "Come Back To Me".

And if you're not sold, perhaps some tweets today from Kris' fellow Idol peeps will sway you:

Jason Castro - @KrisAllen4Real the singles great man!!! keep up the good work!
Jordin Sparks - :D RT @JiveMusic Kris Allen's NEW single "Live Like We're Dying" is available on iTunes! Get it right here, right NOW!

Video Of The Day - Glee Football Team Dances To Single Ladies

There have been some fun musical moments on Glee since it's aired, like the Acafellas singing "Poison" and the glee club singing "Gold Digga", but this one takes it to a whole new level. It's the football team using the "Single Ladies" dance to distract the other team in order to score the winning touchdown.

Beyonce, I'm happy for you, and I'mma let you finish, but this Glee video here is one of the best videos of all time. Of all time!

Video Of The Day - Kratt Busks Before A Show

I don't know how I managed to forget posting this earlier, so I'm a couple of days late and a couple of dollars short (probably more dollars than they actually made that day), but here's a video of Kris Allen and Matt Giraud pretending to busk on a street corner before the Idol concert in Syracuse. Matt sings about making enough tip money to get some Taco Bell while Kris dances and plays guitar.

Kris had tweeted about this that night, saying "Me & @ImMattGiraud went out and played a couple songs for change and got 2 dollars. Guess were not that good. What should I do with my cut?"

Krim Gets A Leg Up On Krezak

In the journalistic fanboy series of one-upmanship with regard to Kris Allen, MTV's Jim Cantiello regained the lead over Entertainment Weekly's Michael Slezak today after his awesome video of outtakes from his brief interview with Kris on Monday.

This is most definitely a must-see. Jim titled it "Kris Allen The Outtakes" with a subtitle of "or: Kris Allen Charms The Pants Off MTV News". This is Kris at his funniest/snarkiest. Look for Kris referencing Adam's crazy outfit from his photo shoot as the Michelin Man suit, insisting that his sexyface face was rather his "lame face", joking about the Glamberts and Lambskanks sabotaging his interview, and giving himself and Jim a nickname - "Krim".

Jim is just as presh as Kris (I'd ship it. Sorry, Kradam!). After Kris asked him if he's ever sky-dived before, Jim said "No, I barely climb a ladder. I'm chicken-shit." He also told Kris, "I feel like you could be friends with, pen pals with Charles Manson, and the fans would be like 'Kranson!'" And after Kris christens he and Jim "Krim", Jim pointed off-camera to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Slezak and gleefully said "I win, Slezak!" Jim also snuck in one last still at the end of the video that said "And 'Krim' sounds better than 'Krezak'". Hahaha!

Personally, I think Krantiello has a better ring to it. So does Jim's wife. He tweeted me this morning: Last nite. My wife: "How was Kris?" Me: "He named us Krim!" Her: "Oh. [Long beat] I always called u 2 Krantiello." I <3 her.

And also check out the accompanying newsblog from Jim about the interview. It starts with, "I'll admit it: I turn into a giddy schoolgirl whenever 'American Idol' winner Kris Allen comes to town. I can't help it! The dude is just so friggin' charming. We have a familiarity and banter together that I've never had with another artist. (Well, Madonna came close. I kid.)" At the end, he tries to front like he could do a serious interview with Kris before finally giving up in the end, writing, "(Incidentally, November 17 is right around when I'll be throwing my karaoke birthday party. You need to come, Kris! GAHH! There I go again thinking we're BFFs. I remain powerless.)"

So Slezak, it's on. We'll have to wait for Friday's premiere episode of "Réalité" (EW.com's cousin, if you will, to Idolatry) to see if he can regain control. Can't wait!

Ladies Night On DwtS

The women danced at a higher level overall than the men, particularly at the top end. I thought Kelly Osbourne, Mya and Joanna Krupa were really strong. Kelly, however, melted hearts with her unexpectedly elegant dance and her family's reaction to it. I mean, to see Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne of all people crying and so proud, you can't help but root for the girl. Not to mention the fact that she did great!

Group Dance - Pro Women - "She's A Lady"
Apparently Lacey Schwimmer choreographed this dance. Well done, Lacey!

Debi Mazar/Maksim Chmerkovskiy - Salsa
She has the commitment but no form and maybe not the trust with partner stuff yet.
Scores: 6-5-5=16

Melissa Joan Hart/Mark Ballas - Viennese Waltz ("Time Of My Life")
MAGIC RAINBOW!!!! I agree with Len - it was a little too saccharin, but I think she has a lot of potential. Carrie Ann scored her the same as Debi? Huh?!
Scores: 6-6-6=18

Mya/Dmitry Chaplin - Viennese Waltz ("Vision Of Love")
She's really good, even if she's a total ringer. And Dmitry with his shirt nearly unbuttoned is never a bad thing. That was a well-choreographed number. About as exciting as you can get for a Viennese Waltz. Len is nuts to give it a 5. And I see you with the bitchface, Donny Osmond!
Scores: 8-5-8=21

Kathy Ireland/Tony Dovolani - Salsa
Some parts were quite cringe-worthy, and she needs to stop holding back. I caught her looking at Tony to follow along with the choreography, and her movements are really small.
Scores: 6-5-5=15

Natalie Coughlin/Alec Mazo - Salsa
She can dance pretty well, but she is SO not selling this dance. She looked really nervous.
Scores: 7-6-6=19

Macy Gray/Jonathan Roberts - Viennese Waltz (Natural Woman)
Is she high again? I am getting some Cloris Leachman vibes. She got censored in week one? Hahaha
Scores: 6-4-5=15

Joanna Krupa/Derek Hough - Salsa
More ugly fringe pants. Joanna's lucky she has Derek because she's usually the type that goes early. She's a good dancer, but she doesn't have the personality to win this, I don't think. She does seem to be on her best behavior so far, though, unlike on Superstars.
Scores: 8-8-8=24

Kelly Osbourne/Louis Van Amstel - Viennese Waltz (Trouble)
She's adorable. And so was the reaction by her family. She is surprisingly elegant. The lift police will come out, though. And can I say I'm so glad to have Louis back? He was fantastic as a choreographer on SYTYCD this year.
Scores: 7-8-8=23

Relay - Group 1 - Natalie/Kathy/Joanna/Debi - Foxtrot (The Best Is Yet To Come)
Natalie still looks scared. Kathy was awkward, especially in the ending pose. Joanna had a rat-nest in her hair but did well. Debi showed the most life of the four and got royally screwed here. And Joanna shrieking about her 1st place showing and accidentally clocking her doesn't help.
4th - Kathy, 3rd - Debi, 2nd - Natalie, 1st - Joanna

Relay - Group 2 - Macy/Melissa/Mya/Kelly - Salsa (Centerfold)
Macy barely danced. In the beginning she didn't even move her feet. Melissa is too Sabrina the Teenage Witch to be sexy. Mya is a natural. Damn, she's good. Kelly continues to surprise, but she slipped up at the end.
4th - Macy, 3rd - Melissa, 2nd - Kelly, 1st - Mya

Samantha Harris cringe-worthy comment of the show - As Maks was trying to figure out what was on Debi's cheek, Samantha tried to get sarcastic with him, saying, "There's a lot going on backstage before without you, too. We don't always include you, Maks." Maks went :| (Kathy Ireland was a close second with her snooty "Yeah, I was in Sports Illustrated 13 times" comment)

Worst music bastardization - It actually wasn't that bad of a music night tonight, but I'd have to give it to whoever was singing on "Vision of Love". That was a little rough, dog.

I think the two going home this week will be Ashley Hamilton and Kathy Ireland. Macy is a terrible dancer, but she'll last a little bit with the Crazy Cloris trainwreck factor. Ashley is just "who?!"

Video Of The Day - Blake Lewis Sad Song

American Idol Season 6 runner-up Blake Lewis debuted his music video for his new single "Sad Song" last night. The video co-stars season 8 semifinalist Casey Carlson. I kinda like the song, but the video is very Human League, circa 1983. But for all I know, that could be intentional.

Guys Night Out On DwtS

The latest season of Dancing with the Stars showed some new changes to the show, starting with the largest cast ever - 16 pairs! To accomodate this, the show was split into two nights, with the men going first and the women going Tuesday night.

The guys so far have mostly failed to impress. There aren't any Master Ps this year, but there surely aren't any Gilles Marinis either. Donny Osmond, Aaron Carter and Mark Dacascos seem to be pretty far ahead of the other guys, but I can see Louie Vito improving enough to last long enough.

Group Dance - Pro men - "The Boys Are Back In Town"
Was it just me or was that sloppy? I felt like a bunch of them just a hair out of sync at times.

Aaron Carter/Karina Smirnoff - Cha Cha Cha ("Beggin'")
Karina is wearing those ugly gold fringe pants from the Emmy's last night. Uglier - those pants or Aaron's white lace shirt? I think I need to hear Matt, Anoop, Lil and the other Idols singing this song instead of the DwtS singers. Aaron is not as good as I thought he would be with his musical background. He screwed up a few things - he fell out of his turn and almost ate it at the end.
Scores: 7-8-7=22

Chuck Lidell/Anna Trebunskaya - Foxtrot ("That's Life")
He over-exaggerates his movements when he's not being stiff, and his posture is atrocious. That being said, at least he was trying.
Scores: 6-5-5=16

Mark Dacascos/Lacey Schwimmer - Cha Cha Cha ("Kung Fu Fighting")
Why they gotta give the Asian guy this song? Ah well. Carrie Ann appreciated it, I guess. I do agree with the judges that he has potential, but it seemed like there was a part near the middle where he forgot the choreography.
Scores: 7-7-7=21

Ashley Hamilton/Edyta Sliwinska - Foxtrot ("Grace Kelly")
He's very plastic, like his dad. Was he dancing?
Scores: 5-6-4=15

Donny Osmond/Kym Johnson - Foxtrot ("All That Jazz")
He has the most performance quality by a mile. His dancing is pretty good too. He's probably going to become more than a little annoying, but he's EASILY the best so far. His performance skills are going to make people overlook technical flaws (I didn't notice those issues myself). Wow, Len. 2 points less than Aaron Carter? That's bananas.
Scores: 7-6-7=20

Louie Vito/Chelsie Hightower - Foxtrot ("It's My Life")
He is leetle and looks like Lurch with a cute smile. And yikes, directors, did we really need to get that shot of Chelsie's crotch as she was doing a sweeping leg motion? Chelsie did a nice job with choreography otherwise.
Scores: 6-7-6=19

Michael Irvin/Anna Demidova - Cha Cha Cha ("I Feel Good")
He was a little early on his entrance. And the cheese is out in full force!
Scores: 5-4-4=13

Tom DeLay/Cheryl Burke - Cha Cha Cha ("Wild Thing")
I'm a little shocked. That wasn't half bad. I'm convinced that Cheryl can make a statue dance. LOL at him pointing and winking at Bruno.
Scores: 6-5-5=16

Relay Dance Group 1 - Ashley, Chuck, Donny, Louie - Salsa ("Get Busy")
Donny did kill this, but his overly demonstrative celebration was off-putting. Agree with the rankings, and I do see a lot of potential in Louie now.
4th - Ashley, 3rd - Chuck, 2nd - Louie, 1st - Donny

Relay Dance Group 2 - Aaron, Mark, Tom, Michael - Viennese Waltz ("I Am Your Man")
Aaron was technically the best, but he looked cold and frantic. I'm not connecting at all with him. Mark was good but his footwork could use improvement. Tom and Michael were ok. Definitely improved for Michael. LOL at Samantha trying to provoke smack talk and none of them engaging her. AT ALL. Not even Michael Irvin. LOL
4th - Tom, 3rd - Michael, 2nd - Mark, 1st - Aaron

Samantha Harris cringe-worthy comment of the show - "I'm sure they're a little jealous you've got this beautiful thing on your arm." (to Chuck Lidell about Anna Trebunskaya)

Worst music bastardization - "Grace Kelly" by Mika

Loads Of Media For Kris Allen Single Release

Kris Allen's "Live Like We're Dying" single premiere on Z100 received loads of press today. Extra, Entertainment Weekly and MTV were all there with him in the studio as he heard his song for the first time.

Access Hollywood talked to Kris about the song, the tour, Adam Lambert and Paula Abdul. New shirt alert?

Also writing about the single release were People, Zap2It.com, and a bitchy E! Online.

Richard Rushfield of Gawker tweeted "Okay official position is in after listening #7. I really like it. Congratulations @krisallen4real #livelikeweredying rules". Brian Mansfield of USA Today's Idol Chatter wrote, "First impression: It's a bright, postive single, not far from what you might expect from Kris, based on his American Idol performances -- a pop-rock sound with an acoustic guitar foundation, combined with a toasting-style chorus (the first listener who called in after it played likened it to a cross between the Dave Matthews Band and Matisyahu)." He added on Twitter that he's a Script fan "so my thoughts r generally positive. Like Kris, it's easy to like." The New York Post's PopWrap Blog loved it, writing, "Exactly four months and one day after he was crowned the "American Idol" Kris Allen has dropped his first official single (I think we're all discounting "No Boundaries") and I love it. The song, "Live Like We're Dying," has the fast paced, folksie sound that Kris' fans have come to expect. The track was actually first performed by Irish band The Script and included on the Japanese release of their self-titled debut CD in 2008. I'm admittedly biased, but Kris' version sounds a million times better to me, but judge for yourself!" Rodney Ho of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution called it "jaunty and upbeat, very pop friendly."

A couple of entertainment blogs also wrote about the single:
  • Just Jared - "I smell a smash hit!!!"
  • Idolator - "a little bit of inspirational strumminess that certainly won’t offset any Jason Mraz comparisons he garnered earlier this year."
  • MJ's Big Blog - "Super catchy melody–toe tapping, head bouncing–the song will be stuck in my head all day. I think it’s got hit potential–it should do particularly well on Hot AC, for sure."
  • Rickey.org - "This single is awesome. Love this sound for Kris!"
  • Idol Live - "If his label handles this release the right way, this could be a serious contender at both CHR and HAC radio."
  • Hollyscoop - "the track really shows off his vocals, and will definitely get the throngs of female fans of his excited."
  • Neon Limelight - "it was pretty clear this was the type of music Allen wanted to make: fun, upbeat, sickeningly catchy!".
  • Pop Ate My Heart - "Its a great up-tempo pop/rock track and will definitely do great on the charts with the right promotion."
  • Pop Awesome - "The track is called “Live Like We’re Dying” and falls somewhere between Madonna’s 4 minutes to save the world and RENT’s five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes (aka Seasons of Love)…. or maybe it’s just all those numbers. Either way, the catchy little number will probably hit the top of the charts in no time."
  • The (Pop) Cultural Elitist - "This one's good. It's also not his alone. The Script also released it, and they sound pretty much exactly the same. That notwithstanding, I like it. Kris' voice is lovely, and I'm really excited about his album."
  • Pop On The Pop - "I am no Kris Allen fan, but his debut single "Live Like We're Dying" is a fairly catchy, uplifting song co-written by Irish pop rockers the Script."
  • The Best Damn Blog - "I like the song, this should do well for him."

And from within the Idolsphere, some Idols tweeted their support!
Anoop Desai: @krisallen4real proud of you, buddy...it's your big day. i'm picking up the single!
Danny Gokey: Just had lunch with w/my record label. Such awesome people & we r very excited 2 get this single out. Congrats @krisallen4real 4 ur big day!
Melinda Doolittle: Excited for @KrisAllen4Real! He sounds great on his new single "Live Like We're Dying". Have you heard it? Don't you love it?! :-)
Chris Richardson: @KrisAllen4Real "Live Like We're Dying" is now on the playlist! Pick it up peeps and support an awesome talent
Michael Sarver: So I just listened to the new single by my boy @KrisAllen4Real. Very nice. I'm proud of u bro! It was an honor to be on a stage with u.
Mishavonna Henson: @krisallenteam @KrisAllen4Real 's new single is incredible! Lovin it!! :D
Chris Sligh: Have you guys heard the new single from @KrisAllen4Real ? Wow. Cool song. Nice flow. Reminds me a little of his version of "Heartless"
  • Kris Allen's Live Like We're Dying World Premiere

Kris Allen stopped by Z100 this morning to World Premiere his single "Live Like We're Dying." You can listen to the song on demand at Z100.

You can take me with a grain of salt since I'm obviously a big Kris Allen fan, but if I didn't like it, I'd either damn it with faint praise like I did with "Light On" or I'd just not give my opinion. My honest opinion is that I really like this song. It's catchy as hell (the chorus has been stuck in my head for days), Kris sounds great, the guitar gives it a bit of a happy feel, and it has a good message without being schlocky. I said earlier that the song has a Jason Mraz's "The Remedy" feel to it. It's also got a little bit of Maroon 5 "Sunday Morning". A caller to Z100 said it was a bit Dave Matthews-esque.

ETA: Forgot to say that the part in the song right after the bridge, around 2:40, is FANTASTIC. Kris changes the melody line on that chorus. It sounds so good.

I'm a tiny bit bummed that it's a cover, but that's mostly because haters are using it against him. As if he had a choice in the matter. After he did Z100, he went to WPLJ, and the DJ actually pried out of him the name of his favorite song on the album so far, and it's one he wrote called "I Need To Know."

Make sure to check out the Z100 interview as well. It's pretty hysterical. Kris brought out the sharp wit this morning. He called his wife "smokin'", said he took requests from drunk people when he was playing bars in Arkansas, tried to work an endorsement with Chick-Fil-A, mocked his Arkansas accent, and made southern jokes about dating cousins and hunting. And he said "yogurt slinger" on air. ROFL.

There were cameras there to capture Kris' reaction to hearing the single for the first time, including one from Extra. MTV News and Entertainment Weekly were there as well, so stay tuned for media from them. I'm also hoping something pops up on WPLJ of Kris in the studio because he sang a to-die-for acoustic "Man In The Mirror". It was amazing.

Catching Up With The Idols - Season 2

Ruben Studdard (1st place) performed at the annual Memphis Sickle Cell Walk on Saturday. Ruben, who is the national spokesperson for the Be Sickle Smart Campaign, co-wrote and recorded a song called "I'm A Fighter" for this campaign.

Not much on the Clay Aiken (2nd place) front, but this music blog in Houston Press mentioned the rabid and defensive fans of Clay, Taylor Hicks, John Mayer and Nickelback, and all hell broke loose in the comments section (NATURALLY!). The Glamberts joined in on the fun as well. LOL.

Kimberley Locke (3rd place) was a guest co-host on The Tyra Banks Show on Tuesday and talked about growing up biracial. You can watch a snippet of the interview on the show's website.

Josh Gracin (4th place) has been on tour around the country. This weekend, he headlined the Colorado Pork & Hops Challenge in Grand Junction, and he performed at the Spokane County Interstate Fair on Thursday. His next gig is Oct. 2 at Northern Michigan University. For tour dates, visit his MySpace.

Kimberly Caldwell (7th place) is still hosting the MTV "Rock Star" rip-off "P. Diddy's Starmaker". That the show is still on the air is the big news there. She will also be performing at Live in the Vineyard in Napa on Nov. 7. Her album comes out in February of 2010.

Catching Up With The Idols - Season 1

Since I've been very neglectful with the news roundup lately, I'm going to try to do a roundup by season. Here's what the American Idol Season 1 crew has been up to lately:

Kelly Clarkson (1st place) had a free concert at Hollywood & Highland on Monday (part of the reason why I have been neglectful). She filmed two songs for Jimmy Kimmel Live and kept on going! The setlist was:

    Miss Independent
    Already Gone
My Life Would Suck Without You
    Breakaway
    If I Can't Have You
    Never Again
    Behind These Hazel Eyes (acoustic)
    Walkin' After Midnight
    Cry
    I Want You
    Because Of You
    Walk Away
    I Do Not Hook Up
    Since U Been Gone

That's right. 14 SONGS. Actually, more like 15 because they had her do Already Gone twice because of a technical issue. For a free concert. I LOVE KELLY CLARKSON!

On Thursday, Kelly performed on VH1 Divas. She sang "Already Gone" and closed the show with a duet with Melissa Ethridge on "Bring Me Some Water."

On Friday, Taylor Swift talked about Kelly's support during the Kanye West fiasco, telling Z100's Elvis Duran, "Kelly's amazing. "I'd love to work with her. We should write a song together. I love how honest and real she is. She speaks her mind, and I think it's a beautiful thing."

Kelly goes out on tour again on October 2. She will be adding some new covers to this tour, including an unnamed cover by Black Keys, she told MTV News.

Justin Guarini (2nd place) worked the red carpet at the Emmy Awards for the TV Guide Channel. On Oct. 10, he will be performing in concert with Drivetime at the Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, PA.

Tamyra Gray's (4th place) music recommendation led to Kelly Clarkson covering two songs by rock band Aranda. Tamyra's husband Sam Watters co-produced Aranda's CD, and Tamyra had Kelly listen to their songs. Kelly later asked them for permission to record their songs "All I Ever Wanted" and "Whyyawannabringmedown". You can visit their MySpace to hear their recordings of those songs.

Newlyweds Jim Verraros (9th place) and Bill Brennan were named After Elton's Gay Of The Week, capturing 69% of the vote (heh).

    2009 Emmy Fashion Bests/Worsts

I still have about another hour before the Emmy Awards air on the West Coast, so we'll talk Emmy fashion instead.
