Kris Allen talked to USA Today about his upcoming album, saying that he's looking at having just one person produce the album in order to have continuity throughout. He said, "I know it's tough to do with the Idol albums. It's so hectic that it's hard to get one producer for the whole album, but that would be my preference. The albums that I listen to and really appreciate, they all have that one-producer thing. Every song sounds different, but they still have that something about them that sounds the same."
Damn, Pocket Idol is smart. And it really sounds like his label is letting him have some creative control. As well they should. He's already proven that he can create a good album by himself with Brand New Shoes.
Speaking of Brand New Shoes, in that dress rehearsal thread at Idol Forums that I linked earlier, the poster there said she talked to Kris after rehearsal and told him that BNS is one of her favorite albums, and he replied that he can't even listen to it and that those were some of the first songs he'd ever written, 3-4 years ago. I think I've said this before, but if he thinks THOSE songs are not so good, I really can't wait to hear what he can come up with now.
And in other Kris news, I just came across this article on Kris from a Central Arkansas magazine, 501 Life. The magazine interviews some of Kris' friends, who described the finale night. This was an interesting and kind of sad excerpt from Kris' pastor about advice from Jason Castro:
Bezet met Season 7 contestant Jason Castro at the finale results show, and he gained priceless advice from someone who had been through the ups and downs of American Idol.
“Castro was one person I wanted to meet because he seemed to have the same temperament as Kris,” Bezet said. “I wanted to know what I could do for Kris after it’s all said and done, so I asked Castro what he would have wanted to hear from his friends after his American Idol experience was over.
“He told me to make sure that we stay involved in Kris’ life. He said he didn’t have a lot of friends and support after the show was over.”
The website also has a ton of photos from Kris' hometown visit from the Top 3 week HERE and HERE.
