Not a good night for break dancing fans, as both b-boy Dominic Sandoval and b-girl Sara Von Gillern were voted out on So You Think You Can Dance. Both have come so far, particularly Dominic, who barely squeaked into the Top 20 to begin with, and probably exceeded most viewers' expectations. I'll miss Dominic, in particular. He wasn't the best technical dancer, but he was one of the most entertaining, particularly when he wasn't dancing. Tonight, even, he was cracking me up with his displays of affection towards Cat Deeley. And his breakdancing chair routine was crazy! Neil was a surprise Bottom 2 member with Dominic. I figured shirtless + Mia routine where everyone cried = safe.
While I've wanted Lauren to go for a long time now, I can see why she stayed over Sara. I didn't think Sara had a particularly good week or had good routines that made people want to vote for her. Her partner Danny was in the Top 2 amongst the guys, but his being in danger so often during the first half of the competition has kept his fans from being complacent as of late.
Each of the Top 8 had to dance a solo tonight. Although it did not count towards this week's voting, there's no doubt that it could play a part towards storing votes for next week. Unfortunately, no one took the opportunity to really stand out here, except for Dominic (too little, too late, unfortunately) and Pasha, who did a solo (and shirtless) paso doble. Lacey's solo was the worst, and she better hope that if the Top 6 have to do solos next week, that someone else choreographs the same routine, a la Wade last week. Sabra's was good from a musicality standpoint, but her dancing has been better. Lauren's hip hop was the best solo amongst the girls. On the guys' side, Danny and Neil have both done better. Neil stumbled out of a move, and it looked like Danny stumbled out of his backhandspring.
As for next week, if they try to give everyone new pairings again, it should be:
Lacey/Pasha (MUST. DO. LATIN!)
Danny/Lauren
Neil/Sabra
I'd much rather see Sabra with Danny, but I guess that'll have to wait for the finale (I hope) since that particular pairing would mean Lauren/Neil were together again. I will refrain from predicting Lauren and Neil's demise next week. Maybe that will actually make it happen. Heh.

Bad break for America too. Dominic's solos will be missed.
I totally agree w/ you on Dominic. He cracked me up tonight. And his solo was entertaining. AND it was cool to see him grow over the course of the competition. His time was coming, but I'll miss him!
Pasha was smart to use the cape (and to lose the shirt) because he's only so so on his own.
Danny & Lauren??? Please God NO!
If Neil and Lauren go home next week all will be right in the world.
Oh did you hear that the result show next week won't air until Monday? But it will be taped at the same time (in other words..spoilers). Anti climatic much?
